Hours: This is a permanent position with the role undertaking 34.5 hours per week on a shift contract. 
Contract: Permanent
Salary: Band 6: £41, 668 – 50,775

The position will be graded to the equivalent salary of the Agenda for Change pay scale band 6. Continuation of NHS Superannuation scheme is possible if criteria are met.

ACCORD Hospice is looking for an experienced and compassionate Deputy IPU Manager to join our In-Patient Unit team in Paisley. This is an exciting opportunity for a registered nurse with palliative care experience to provide clinical leadership, support service development, and help deliver outstanding person-centred care for patients and families with complex needs.

Main duties of the role:

· Provide clinical leadership within the In-Patient Unit and support the day-to-day running of the service.

· Work closely with the IPU Manager to coordinate the multidisciplinary team and maintain high standards of specialist palliative care.

· Support, supervise, and develop Registered Nurses, Clinical Support Workers, students, and volunteers.

· Promote a positive, professional culture focused on patient-centred care, safety, quality improvement, and continuous learning.

· Help manage risk, incidents, complaints, and clinical governance activity within the hospice.

· Contribute to education, audit, service development, and effective partnership working across care settings.

· Manage the In-Patient Unit in the absence of the IPU Manager.

What we are looking for:

· Registered Nurse with degree level training.

· Strong knowledge of current palliative care nursing practice, clinical risk, and prioritisation of care.

· Excellent nursing, leadership, communication, and teamworking skills.

· Experience of supporting staff development, mentorship, and service improvement.

· A flexible, motivated, and compassionate approach, with the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and emotionally demanding environment.

Desirable qualifications and experience include a post-registration qualification in palliative care. Experience in teaching, supervision, mentorship, research, or presentation.
