ACCORD Hospice is looking for additional Healthcare Support Worker to join our IPU team. Your main duties will be to assist the nursing staff in a range of patient care duties within our eight bedded inpatient unit. See Job description for more details.

Main duties of the role

· Assist trained nursing staff in a range of patient care duties.

· Observe patient’s general condition in line with care plan.

· Assist with day-to-day administration related to patient care.

· Report patient information / condition to Trained Nursing Staff.

· Working with the wider team in the provision of care, social and recreational activities for patients and carers.

· Always maintain confidentiality.

What we are looking for

· Experience in providing personal care and support within a health or social care setting.

· Ability to demonstrate compassion, dignity, respect and empathy.

· Ability to work as part of a team and to follow instructions.

· Willingness to work within a specialist palliative care setting, with people who need end of life care and support.

· Ability to deal with frequent exposure to emotional circumstances.

· Good communication and listening skills.

· Good observation skill and ability to report back promptly and accurately.

· Understanding of confidentiality and professional boundaries.
