Dear ACCORD Supporter
Welcome to the latest edition of the ACCORDian. It is packed with updates on the work of the Hospice from patient care to fundraising efforts. I hope you enjoy reading it.
For me, this is an important occasion because it is the last time that I will be communicating with you in this manner as Chair of the Board of Trustees as I will demit office at the AGM in July. I have been a Trustee of ACCORD for over twenty years, serving the last ten as Chair. Over that time, I have developed an enormous sense of appreciation for people like you – our supporters and volunteers.
It is often said, but no less true for repetition, that ACCORD could not function without its supporters and volunteers working tirelessly to support the 1700 patients and families in the care of the hospice each year. So, may I express my heartfelt gratitude to each one of you.
In this edition you will learn more about ‘ACCORD at Home’, our Education Team and community groups like ‘Chatter Matters’. You will hear stories from the families of patients and learn more about our fundraising and volunteering endeavours.
It is a source of deep satisfaction to see the strides that ACCORD has made over the years and to know that we have exciting plans for the future.
Wish all best wishes,
Professor Phil Hanlon
Chair of ACCORD Hospice
