Inpatient Unit
The Inpatient Unit of ACCORD Hospice has the facility to accommodate eight (8) patients, each with their own individual room. The unit is Consultant led. Our Consultants in Palliative Medicine are Dr David Gray, Dr John Walley and Dr Lindsay McNeil. They are supported by a Speciality Doctor in Palliative Medicine, Dr Eirean Bishop, and a Clinical Assistant, Dr Gordon Forrest. Further support is offered by a dedicated team of General and Hospital Practitioners providing 1st on-call cover, for out of hours and weekends. Highly trained and compassionate nursing staff, led by Charge Nurse Alison Auld, work closely with the medical team and other healthcare professionals to assess and agree with the patient their plan of care.



How the Inpatient Unit can support you
If you require to be admitted to our Inpatient Unit, our aim is to provide you and your family with a homely setting, where you will receive high quality clinical and supportive palliative and end of life care. This care will be provided by our multi-disciplinary team comprising of nurses, doctors, physiotherapists, occupational therapists, social worker, counsellors, complementary therapist and our hairdresser.
You may be admitted to our unit to receive support for the following:
- Symptom control
- Emotional / psychological support
- Assessment and rehabilitation
- End of Life Care
