Having lived in Paisley all my life I was always aware of the tremendous work of ACCORD, however as a family we got to witness this through a different lens when my Dad was admitted to the hospice in 2009, where he spent the final 15 days of his life. Our family then witnessed first-hand just how special the Hospice is and how amazing the staff were in every area, whether a volunteer, a clinician, support staff, literally everyone who created an environment where my dad and our whole family and friends were treated with such care, dignity, compassion and respect to a level which always went above and beyond.
Such was our experience we wanted to give something back and for 10 years ran a Sportsman’s Dinner with friends which over that decade raised £72,000 for ACCORD (Our friends generosity also shows how highly regarded the Hospice is within the community). When that concluded in 2019, I was thoughtful on how I could continue to provide some support on an ongoing basis and when this opportunity arose I was happy and honoured to commit my support to help ensure that the experience we had as a family remains firmly in place for those who need it now and in the future.
I am looking forward to see the services and support ACCORD have continue to grow and flourish and providing my own experience to the Board to support the ambitions of the wide range of services providing such benefit to our community.
