Light Up a Life 2020
13th December 2020 @ 5:00 pm - 8:00 pm
Light Up a Life Links to view – Sunday 6th December 2020 at 4pm
*****UPDATE FOR OUR LIGHT UP A LIFE SERVICE******
Usually we would host our very special Light Up a Life Event at the Hospice, however this isn’t possible this year due to the ongoing pandemic. Light up a Life means so much to us at ACCORD, as well as to all our supporters, so we have made sure that the coronavirus won’t disrupt it entirely…
We are honoured to be able to bring you all together – Join us from the comfort and safety of your own home on Sunday 6th of December from 4pm as we host our first ever virtual Light up a Life service and Candlelight Procession live from Facebook.
You, your family and friends are invited to join us virtually for this very special occasion, a chance to take some time out and remember the special people in your lives, share memories and celebrate their lives whilst enjoying readings, music and Christmas Carols. We will encourage you to light a candle at home with your friends or family to remember the special people in your lives.
Facebook Page – @ACCORDHospice
Sunday 13th and Monday 14th December – book your slot to come and light a candle and walk the avenue in your small group.
As there won’t be a physical event we wanted to still allow those who want to come to the Hospice to remember the chance to do so. A family can book a time to come to the Hospice after the event has been on Virtually. We kindly ask that you stick to the maximum of 2 adults, 6 children, or your family ‘bubble’ as stated in the Government guidelines.
********TO BOOK YOUR TIME: *********
At your booked time, please park at the Mary Russell School and walk up the Avenue to the Hospice – the walk will take under 10 minutes. You will be able view the Tree and Hospice lit up in all its glory, then light a candle in memory of your loved one. Stewards will be there along to route to guide and assist where needed.
Please be aware that due to restrictions, families will not be able to linger at the Hospice. As in previous years, we will be offering a cup of soup and we kindly ask that you head back to your car once you have received this. Stewards will guide you to the opposite side of the road to walk back to your car.
Please contact email@example.com if you have any problems with walking the route, there will be limited car parking spaces for those unable to do the walk.
This Christmas, remember and celebrate the life of someone special by sponsoring a star.
My sister was a generous, hospitable, loyal, trustworthy and genuine person and she was absolutely bursting with life. In her 51 years she was a shining example of a life well-lived.
Anna was moved to ACCORD Hospice in Paisley in October 2019 after being in Hospital.
The care and love Anna received from the moment she was admitted was truly overwhelming.
During her final weekend my Mum, Dad and I were able to cry and pray together with Anna. I continued to read to Anna as I had done for the last few months. All the while her two beloved dogs stood as sentinels on either side of the bed. She had a patio door in her room that opened outside and the dogs were able to come and go quite freely.
The family will be forever thankful for the love and dignity that the ACCORD staff showed my sister in her final days on this earth. We will never be able to find the words to thank them enough for the way they carried us as a family when wave after wave of grief hit us during Anna’s stay. The work of all hospices is truly humbling and in desperate need of wider support.
Christmas is a time of celebration and sharing but it can also be a difficult time of year when you are missing someone special. ACCORD’s Light up a Life Appeal gives you the opportunity to remember them by dedication a light in their memory.
By donating through our Light up a Life Appeal, you are helping ACCORD to care….”Every Light making every moment count.”
