Day Therapy Unit Weekly Quiz

8th September 2020 @ 10:00 am - 17th November 2020 @ 5:00 pm

Answer’s below!

Where has 2020 gone?   Now in October and the leaves are turning wonderful colours as we head in to Autumn.  This week, thinking about holidays (in the past) and my first ever trip abroad was to be chosen as a member of the first (and probably last) Scottish Scout exploration to the Faroe Islands situated in between Shetlands and Iceland in 1969.  I remember the Faroese government gave us a present on leaving of a bag of whalemeat which lay in my mums bath for 4 days and can still smell the stench!    Before that fair to say that the majority of ‘holidays’ were literally in our back yard or within a train journey.   Before my dad was given a company car (which was very unusual in the early 60’s), it was down to Stevenson (with the jaggy grass on the beach) or good old Largs (where the seafront hasn’t really changed in 60 odd years).  When we had the luxury of the car (first one was a mini van), our first big trip was to see Aunty in Stafford and very uncomfortable with 4 kids in the back for a journey which did not have the roads of upgraded M74 or M6.  The perception of the Black country was smoke/Industrial, however in the very early 60’s as we were waved off by neighbours, we as kids managed to see some great places:  Coventry Cathedral/Alton Towers when they had a mini railway and the Stately home/Lichfield Cathedral and Cannock chase.  In later years, we headed north to Grannies Heilan Hame in Dornoch where there were only 50 caravans…..went back to see what’s there now 2 years ago and must be 500 ‘homes’.  Its true what they say…..if we had the weather in Scotland ,we woudn’t go abroad……lovely clean beaches in the North/Great historical sites and fantastic scenery.   Hopefully this article will bring back your memories of family holidays or as we did one year the kids set up a tent in the back garden!!    On to this weeks quiz and having testing last weeks quiz out on a zoom call with friends could have been that someone got that 20 out of 20… friend scored 19!!
