ACCORD has secured a vital cash boost of £120,000 from The Julia and Hans Rausing Trust.
In these unprecedented times, the care team at ACCORD is doing everything possible to continue providing vital care for local people at the hospice and in their own homes.
COVID-19 has caused illness and death but it has also wrought havoc to our society and our economy. ACCORD has not been spared these challenges.
Due to COVID-19, like many other charities, the Hospices ability to raise funds for our services was impacted by the pandemic, while demand for the Hospice’s services were under increasing demand and pressure.
The Hospice applied to the Charity Survival Fund – established by The Julia and Hans Rausing in July 2020 – for funding to help with everyday running costs of the Hospice and was successful in its application to the sum of £120,000.
The Charity Survival Fund was set up with a fund of £18m which charities were encouraged to apply for funding to help with running costs during the time of the pandemic. The Hospice was one of 300 successful applicants and we are absolutely delighted to share this news with you all.
David McFadden, Fundraising and Communications Manager at ACCORD, said: “We are completely overcome to have received this additional funding for the Hospice at such a difficult time for everyone. All sectors have been severely impacted by the pandemic, but especially the third sector as many of our supporters are not in a position to be able to donate as before, now and for the foreseeable future.
This will go some way to helping provide for our patients and their families during what is already a very difficult time to make their time with us as pleasant an experience as possible.”
